Ethnic Tourism.

South West Ethiopia).
Day 1
Arrive Addis
Ababa. Afternoon would a city tour. Overnight AA.
Day 2
Leave Addis Ababa
for Hosanna. En route we visit the archeological site of Melka Kunture,
the rock-hewn church of Adadi Mariam and Tiya standing stones.
Day 3
Proceed to
Arbaminch via the rolling mountains of Wolayita. This afternoon we will
visit the Dorze village at Chencha. The Dorzes are very well known in
constructing beehive-structured houses; and then drive to Arbaminch for
an overnight staying.
Day 4
Today, we visit
the Nechsar national Park where we expect few mammals like the endemic
Swayne's Hartebeest, Zebra, Grant's and Somme ring’s Gazelles and some
others. Late afternoon would be a boat trip on lake chamo.
Day 5
Drive to Jinka via
Konso village. The Konsos are very well known in constructing the
hillside terracing. Not only this but also known in erecting wagga- the
grave sculpture. Today we also visit the Tsemay ethnics with their
different customs and traditions. En route we also meet the Benna and
Ari people on the way to Jinka.
Day 6
Continuing to
Mursi village via Mago National Park. The Mursi are one of the
minorities in the lower Omo valley who the women are still wearing the
lip-plate. Then drive back to Mago HQ for camping.
Day 7
Proceed to Murille.
Today we have an opportunity of seeing different mammals and birds
before we leave the park. In addition, we will visit the Karo people who
are very well known in body paintings and scarification. Overnight
Murile Russo's Lodge or camping.
Day 8
Drive to Omo Rate
via Nayagaton or Bume village. We also visit the Dasenech people at
Galeb who are still practicing their original traditional values.
Overnight Turmi Camping.
Day 9
Full day visiting
different Hammer villages at Turmi and Demeka. The Hammer men are very
well known in their clay-ban hairstyle and body paintings. The young men
are still practicing the bull jumping ceremony before marriage, which is
considered as a passage to manhood.
Day 10
Drive back to
Arbaminch via Erbore village and konso.
Day 11
Proceed to
Wondogenet.
Day 12
Back to Addis
Ababa. En route visiting the Abijata - Shalla Lakes for their abundant
bird life. Overnight AA.
Day 13
Departure.

Combined Tours (Historic sights and
culture with Nature)
Day 1
Arrive Addis
Ababa. Afternoon program will be a city tour. Overnight AA
Day 2
Fly to Axum. In
Axum we visit different historical sights like the stele, Ezana's
palace, Queen Sheba's palace and the church of St. Mary Tsion.
Day 3
This morning we
drive to the pre-historic sight of Yeha for its Temple. Afternoon,
covering the rest of the sights in Axum.
Day 4
Fly to Lalibella.
This afternoon we visit the first group of the rock-hewn churches. Such
as Beta Medhanialem, Beta Mariam, Beta Golgotha and Beta Georges.
Day 5
This morning we
have a mule excursion to Asheton Mariam. And in the afternoon we will
see the second group of Lalibella's Rock-hewn churches.
Day 6
Fly to Gonder.
Today we are visiting the medieval Gonderian castles and the beautifully
painted Debre-Brehan Sellassie church.
Day 7
Drive to Semien
Mountains National park via Debark where we see the beautiful endemic
Gelada Baboon with wonderful scenery of the park.
Day 8
Proceed to Cheneck
for the rare endemic Walia Ibex, which is confined to this region. Here
we also see a lot of birds of prey like Bearded Vulture or Lammergeyer.
Day 9
Drive back to
Gonder.
Day 10
Proceed to Bahir
Dar. Afternoon will be a Boat trip on Lake Tana with a visit to Zeghe
Monastery.
Day 11
This morning we
drive to the Blue Nile Falls one of the spectacular water falls in
Ethiopia. Afternoon program will be visiting the market in Bahir Dar and
the viewpoint.
Day 12
Fly back to Addis
Ababa. Overnight AA.
Day 13
Departure.
Nature, Culture and People
(Omo Special) - (Saturday to
Saturday)
N.B. visiting the
ethnic groups of the south Omo is like experiencing a living
ethnographic museum. The most famous are HAMMER & MURSI, renewed for
their clay lip-plate.
Day 1
Arrive Addis
Ababa. Afternoon would be a city tour including the National Museum.
Day 2
Drive to Lake
Langano in the Great Rift Valley. En route visiting Lakes Ziway and
Abijata. Overnight Langano.
Day 3
Proceed to
Arbaminch. This afternoon we will visit the village of the Dorze people
who live in distinctive beehives shaped houses constructed entirely of
organic materials.
Day 4
This morning we
visit the Nechsar National Park where we are seeing the rare endemic
Swayne's Hartebeest including different mammals like Berchule's Zebra,
Greater Kudu, Waterbuck, Grant’s Guzzle and Dik-Dik. Then, in the
afternoon we drive to Konso village that's the people are very well
known in constructing the hillside terracing.
Day 5
Continue to Jinka
via the colorful market of Key Afer. It is here that the Ari, Benna,
Hammer and Tsemay ethnics are meeting.
Day 6
Drive to MURSI
village via Mago National Park. The Mursi are part of the small
remaining group of peoples in the world whose women still wear lip
plates. The lip- plates are purely symbolic.
Day 7
Proceed to Murille
for the Karo people whose many of the men are further decorated with
scarification, which denotes their standing in the community.
Day 8
Drive to Omo Rate
via Nayagaton or Bume village. We also visit the Dasenech people at
Galeb who are still practicing their original traditional values.
Day 9
Full day exploring
Hammer market and villages. Hammer men who have killed either an enemy
or a dangerous animal such as a lion or a leopard wear Clay hair buns.
Symbolizing courage, the clay bun is usually remade every three to six
months and can be worn for a period of up to one year after the kill.
Overnight Turmi Camping.
Day 10
Drive to Yabello
via Erbore and Konso. En route visiting the Borena Oromo.
Day 11
Continue to
Wondogenet via Awassa. To day we visit ancient anthropomorphic and
phallic stele fields of Tutu Fella or Tututi.
Day 12
Return to Addis
Ababa.
Day 13
Departure.
