Blue Bay Beach Resort and Spa in Zanzibar

The resort lies on the North East Coast next to the village of Kiwengwa which is about an hour drive from the Zanzibar International Airport and Stone Town.

Blue Bay Beach Resort and Spa in Zanzibar has been constructed on twenty five acres of palm trees, landscaped gardens and one of Zanzibar most striking beaches. Blue Bay Zanzibar has designed and built, with the environment in mind, incorporating the best of modern technology in resource utilization for which they have received government recognition. The wastewater treatment plant provides all the garden water, whilst energy saving devices such as solar panels are positioned throughout the hotel.

Although Blue Bay Zanzibar is one of the largest resorts on Zanzibar, you do not get the feeling of crowds and other guests invading your space. This feeling of quiet and calm is achieved through the houses and bungalows being set in the 25 acres of well manicured lawns, palm trees and the beautiful stretch of beach that make up Blue Bay Beach Resort & Spa. The resort has a very relaxed feeling about it and the main objective is to relax, put your feet up and enjoy this tropical paradise.

Bluebay Beach Resort offers 88 sea-facing rooms, including 80 superior rooms, six deluxe rooms and two Sultan suites - with big price differences. The bungalows are thatched with makuti palms to blend in with the tropical environment. Although the rooms are positioned some distance from the beach (which keeps it pristine) on the green lawns, some have chinks of a sea view through the lush palm trees.

All rooms are tastefully decorated using reproductions of Zanzibar furniture (rather than the genuine antiques found elsewhere in Zanzibar) and a cool, white-and-blue color scheme reflecting the dazzling sand and azure ocean.

There are four-poster beds with mosquito nets, a writing bureau, coffee table and easy chairs, dressing room, en-suite bathroom and either a veranda or balcony. Each room is well appointed with an air conditioner, ceiling fan, satellite television, mini-bar, hairdryer and telephone.

The superior rooms are found in two-storey blocks (housing four rooms each) furthest away from the beach in the lush, tropical gardens. The garden rooms are slightly closer to the beach and have a smaller lounge and veranda area on ground level.

If you are after the ultimate in luxury and can afford the extra premium, book one of the Sultan Rooms. These spacious rooms are situated closest to the beach and feature enormous 8-foot beds and verandas with sun beds and a Zanzibar lounging sofa. Attended by butlers dressed in elegant, traditional Swahili robes, you can sit back and imagine what it must have been like in a Sultans palace. Of course, the Sultans of yesteryear would not be spoilt with all the modern technology you will find at Blue bay.

Dining at Blue Bay Beach Resort & Spa
The Blue Bay Beach Resort & Spa Makuti Restaurant enjoys magnificent views over the modern deck-level swimming pool to the ocean beyond and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner within our guests meal plan arrangements.

The main bar located beside the swimming pool serves a wide selection of European and South African wines, local and imported beers, spirits and minerals as well as coffee, Cappuccino and Espresso.

The Beach Bar and Restaurant, as the name implies, is situated on the very edge of the beautiful Indian Ocean and is an ideal place for guests to sip cold drinks or to enjoy a feast of seafood specialties, pizzas prepared in our authentic wood fired oven as well as other light fare, all served in an informal setting with toes in the sand and a magnificent thatched roof to shade you from the hot tropical sun.

Blue Bay Beach Resort & Spa Activities
Blue bay has all the land and water sports activities you could wish for. You can dive around the Mnemba Atoll or go snorkelling, windsurfing, canoeing and sailing. Arrange with the hotel to go deep-sea fishing with a local fisherman in an outrigger canoe.
