Desert Rose Kenya
The lodge is a home in Africa's wilderness located quietly on the southern
slopes the Northern Kenya south of Lake Turkana.
Desert rose lodge Kenya has five houses, individually designed around various
natural features. Each has an open-air bathroom to ensures total privacy
and simultaneous exposure to the nature.
The main lounge and dining room is situated with panoramic views off the
mountains and beyond, while the pool perched on the edge with flat grass
surrounding completes the harmony of this small creation.
The stunning landscape, interesting vegetation, which varies incredibly
from the hot dry valley floor to the cool green forests on the top of
the mountain, ensures there is plenty of variety in the forest walks.
Game in the area is shy and scattered. Baboon and leopard are often
heard close-by in the granite rock cliffs or the spectacular fig trees,
which also abound in bird life.
Available activities include picnic by the granite waterslide a nine
thousand foot mountain above the slide also provided many children with
days of entertainment, a natural swimming pool, massages, reflexology
and other beauty treatments, walking safaris, camels safaris, some can
take 2 – 6 days.
A helicopter trip through the spectacular Suguta valley
to Desert Rose is definitely worth the treat. A timeless way to explore
an unchanged culture and people of this beautiful landscapes.
Access can be by air - one can charter a flight from Nairobi or Nanyuk
or wherever you are in the country. Access by road is about 8 hours
drive from Nairobi. Map could be provide on request.
The lodge is located at 5,500 feet and its recommended to bring
something warm to wear in the evenings. Days are hot. May and June are
our wettest months but we are open all year round.
The remote location ideally requires a full week in order to fully
appreciate the tranquil ambience and the multitude of activities to
chose from. Despite its remote location, the lodge is very
child-friendly, encouraging families with kids of all ages.
