Giraffe Manor House Nairobi

A truly internationally recognized spot. The Giraffe Manor house Nairobi can pass for a celebrity. Its founders Jock and Betty Leslie rescued a baby giraffe named Daisy from a heavily poached area of western Kenya in 1974, their home has become then become  household name for the wildlife lovers.

Daisy’s home has opened to the world and provides the best start or end to a safari. the Giraffe manor house is set on a 120 acres of untouched indigenous forest 20 minutes drive from Nairobi downtown.

The Giraffe Manor house is set away from the bustle of the city and a perfect location for unwinding after your arrival in Kenya.

The 1930s house is run by Betty’s son, Rick Anderson, and his wife Bryony, who have created the ultimate ‘home from home’ with their rich blend of warm surroundings, welcoming staff, and fresh home cooked cuisine. Meals are almost invariably interrupted by one of the manor’s celebrated four legged residents, who poke their heads through the giant windows to politely request for a bite too..

The giraffe manor house comprises of five double bedrooms, immaculately furnished in the style, with large four-poster beds, antique furnishings and striking Art Deco bathrooms.

Two rooms have since been converted into family suites while the rear of the house has a large extension ideal for older children.

The main bedrooms boasts the original furniture of Karen Blixen’s guestroom, and is hung with exquisite wildlife paintings by her famous cook Kamante.

The giraffe centre next door is run by the African Foundation for Endangered Wildlife and you can visit for free. The giraffe manor house is close by several other Nairobi attractions, The  Karen Blixen’s farm house and museum, The Daphne Sheldrick’s famous elephant orphanage and the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi's  a heritage and culture centre.
