Kipungani lodge Lamu

Perched on the edge of Kipungani Bay the lodge is a dream destination for those seeking a true away, located in a deserted island the lodge lies two degrees south of the Equator, on the edge of a near deserted 12 kilometre beach.

Kipungani lodge Lamu is on the remote south western tip of Lamu Island and it takes approximately 90 minutes by flight from Nairobi and 30 minutes flight from Malindi town located south of Lamu and north of Mombasa.

Kipungani Bay Lamu has 12 spacious bandas, which is Swahili for - the place of fresh air. The bandas are constructed entirely from local materials, with palm floors and thatch roofs woven by the residents of neighbouring Kipungani village through a community initiative. The large interiors are a picture of rustic simplicity, with giant king-size beds and furniture all handmade from local mangrove and palm woods. Each room has an ocean facing veranda with local hand made sofas and chairs piled high with colourful cushions. Amenities include freshwater showers, flush toilets, and separate dressing areas with wash basins. Some come with a hammock set by the veranda.

Kipungani lodge Lamu offers a dining room and bar. Leisure facilities include an infinity swimming pool, bird walks and excursions to ancient ruins, historic mosques, markets and museums.

Water sports include snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, kayaking, deep-sea game fishing*, and sailing on Arab dhows.
