Matthews range

Located in Laikipia area, Northern Kenya district and approximately 200 km north of Isiolo town. The Matthews range region is a lush, forested range that stands in stark contrast to the surrounding desert.

Rivers and springs located in the Mathews range provide the much needed source of water for both wildlife and the local people. Elephant, buffalo, leopard and other animals are often found through the thick forest, the area is a bird watchers paradise, butterfly watchers are also invited .

The cycad plants and giant cedars are popular in the Mathews area. Many of the ancient cycads are endemic and found nowhere else on earth.

The Matthews range can be explored though hiking and fly camping safaris, the local Samburu are very good guides and camel handlers, so camel safaris are a popular activity.
