Naibor camp Masai mara
The camp is located in southern Kenya between the Masai Mara Reserve and
the Loita Hills on a private 10,000 acre conservancy within Ol Kinyei
Group Ranch. 250km from Nairobi, 80km from Narok. Naibor camp Masai Mara
is accessible either by regular scheduled flights from Nairobi (40mins)
The Naibor Camp masai
mara can also be reached by road from Nairobi (41/2hrs). Please note
that a four-wheel-drive vehicle is required.
The Camp is a striking combination of contemporary style and comfort and
muted bush colours. Spacious pale-canvas tents accommodate king-size
beds of fig-wood with soft quilts, wide sofas furnished with bolster
cushions and wool rugs, each positioned for the maximum enjoyment of the
surrounding views and complete privacy.
Each guest tent at the camp is a private unit complete with shady
verandah, his & hers wash basins, en-suite bathroom with flush toilet
and safari shower.
The tents nestle
amongst yellow bark Acacia trees and are spaced so that each has a
unique view of the surrounding bush and wildlife. The tents are
furnished with solid, comfortable furniture so that you have the
ultimate in camping luxury to come back to after exciting game drives or
walks in the conservancy.
The main ‘mess’ tent is located centrally overlooking a salt-lick where
animals regularly come to drink. Comfortable floor cushions, rugs and
sofas invite the weary to relax and enjoy the sounds of the wilderness
and the camp-fire provides a welcome spot for pre-dinner drinks in the
evening. Meals are made from the finest fresh ingredients prepared by
our experienced chefs. Dinner at The Masai mara Naibor camp is served at
either the long banquet table or at private tables under the stars on
request, whilst breakfast and lunch may either be served in camp or as a
picnic during a morning of game watching.
Children under 8yrs are welcome on request, but please note that this is
a private, wilderness destination so parental supervision is necessary
at all times. They provide early dinners for children and a
child-minding service for your convenience.
The location for Masai mara Naibor camp was chosen particularly for the
opportunities for guests to really experience wildlife on a basic level
as well as enjoy the exclusivity of a private area. Walking and mountain
biking with our knowledgeable and experienced guides and Masai rangers
are a very popular activity at the camp, allowing for some really
memorable moments and a chance to see the bush from a very different
perspective. Game drives and night drives are also a good opportunity to
witness some of the varied and plentiful wildlife that inhabits the
surrounding area.
Sundowners on nearby
viewpoint give your mind a chance to relax and contemplate the vastness
of Africa. Animals seen regularly in the conservancy include lion,
leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, gazelle, wildebeest, and
zebra among others. Birdlife is very good around the camp and
conservancy and we are proud to be one of the few places where the
Karamoja Apalis bird is found.
As is the case with our other ventures, Naibor tented camp is engineered
to involve local communities in preserving their wildlife and
environment whilst providing them with an alternative source of income.
This enables these rural populations to benefit from their natural
resources in a sustainable and non-destructive way so to better is able
to care for their families and improve their standard of living. As far
as possible, we recruit camp staff from the immediate community and
provide them with training and employment. The community receives a
conservation fee for every bed night in the camp, which is then
dedicated to social development projects. In addition, through our
charitable trust; Asali Community Trust (ACT), we are hoping to be able
to channel private investment and donations into micro-finance, health
and education projects within the local area.
To take full advantage of everything on offer, stays at Naibor camp
should be a minimum of 3 or 4 nights, though shorter stays are all
welcome.
