“Thayu Roundvales
Limuru" the local word for peace. It was inspired by the undulating
hills, ever-green countryside and the serenity that you cannot help
feeling when you set foot into Thayu Round vales. The pleasant climate
and the crisp, reinvigorating, upland air have made it a perfect
sanctuary for those seeking to get away from the city.
Set in over five acres
of farmland, mature flower gardens and indigenous trees, Thayu
Roundvales offers you complete relaxation, whether you are on a safari,
or a business retreat. The buildings are designed to blend into the
environment, offering you refreshing scenery and quiet. Our staff will
give you the best of Kenyan hospitality. As we only take in one group at
a time you can be sure to get personalized attention.
Thayu Roundvales
consists of the Cottages, the Annex and the Old farm house. There are
five rooms in this Limuru cottages, all designed like the traditional
Gikuyu hut. Each has a modern bathroom, two bedrooms, and an equipped
kitchenette. It also contains a country style living room with a cosy
fireplace to gather guests and family over a drink. You can also sit on
the porch, watch as the sun sets or enjoy reading your favourite book.
Occasionally you may catch sight of a Columbus monkey swing among the
trees.
The Annex houses
nineteen tastefully designed self-contained rooms, a blend of country
and African influences. Each is furnished with modern amenities and a
reading area to help you catch up with some work. The rooms provide easy
access to each other for those travelling together. The balcony
overlooks a flower garden. Here you can sit reading or catch a drink as
the night falls without worrying about mosquitoes.
The Old farm house also has six self contained rooms.
On offer are a variety of dishes ranging from local, farm fresh
delicacies to exotic cuisine, all prepared to suit your palate.
Especially tempting is our mouth-watering roast goat reared in the
mineral-rich highland pastures. Most of the food is grown in the farm,
assuring you of freshness. The meals are prepared to the guest's
specifications. You also have an option of catering for yourself in the
cottages.

Meal times are as follows: -
Breakfast is between 7:00am - 9:30am while lunch is served between
12.30pm and 2.30pm in the afternoon. The final meal of the day, dinner,
is served between 7.30pm and 9.30pm in the evening.
There is a fully equipped conference centre installed with modern
facilities making it ideal for workshops, seminars and retreats. The
executive boardroom for board meetings and small group retreats has
Wireless Internet access to enable you get in touch with the office.
To compliment the conference facilities, a state of the art business
bureau with 24 hour internet access, fax, telephone and photocopy
facilities to offer you seamless and stress-free touch with the world.
Catch up with
international news, sports and programming on satellite TV in the TV
room. Should you wish to shoot some pool, a table awaits you. You can
also match your wits with your friends on a game of scrabble or chess.
There will be a bonfire on the last night of your stay for you to make
new friends and recount the experiences.
For nature lovers, there are plenty of bird species to catch see. You
can learn about indigenous trees such as Neem, Jacaranda and Fig. Fig
tree mugumu is an integral part Gikuyu customs and folklore. Many
religious and cultural rites, and historical events took place under
this tree. The Neem tree also known as Muarubaini or forty in Swahili is
believed to cure over three-dozen ailments. It has proven medical
significance and alleviates a variety of conditions including malaria,
headaches and hypertension.
For the lovers of golf
you can, with prior arrangements, access the Limuru Country Club nest
door. Here you can also enjoy tennis and squash a swim or healthy
workout.
A trip to Tigoni would not be complete without a visit to a tea estate
to see how the world famous Kenyan is processed. There are exquisite
picnic sites along the way, you are guaranteed to enjoy your stay to the
