The rooms are somewhat dated but comfortable and a number of them
overlook the pretty beach. The waters are safe to swim in as the whole
coast is protected by a coral reef about a kilometer off-shore.
While
the beach is worth visiting, the local hawkers that frequent the site
can be a bit off-putting. They normally respond to a strong ‘no’ and
aren’t too intimidating though.
Voyager is a great family resort with tons of things for the kids to do.
They offer high chairs and cots, a babysitting service as well as a
children’s’ club for kids up to 12 years of age.
The club runs from 10am
to 6pm and offers the little ones great activities and games. There is
also a children’s pool and a play area specially designed to keep them
entertained for hours.
While Voyager is really popular and usually quite full, there are loads
of space, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring that you never feel
cramped.
The resort has three freshwater pools, each with a different
use. First there’s the sports pool for all kinds of activities, then the
quiet pool overlooking the beach (no kids allowed at this one) and
lastly the fun or leisure pool.
This one has a kids’ pool, a fun
waterslide and a Jacuzzi plus a sail awning to provide shade on
particularly hot and sunny days. We loved the fact that we didn’t have
to use our own towels as we were supplied with the resort’s towels at
the poolside, free of charge.
The pools are great for cooling down,
catching some rays on their sun loungers or simply to spend some time
catching up on a good book under the shady canopies.
Dining is included at two of the three restaurants.
The dishes are large and plentiful,
especially the hearty breakfasts of pancakes, cakes, fruit, omelet's
and just about anything else we could think of. We unfortunately found
the service a bit lacking and detrimental to our otherwise enjoyable
stay.
The resort has its own glass bottom boat which is quite popular. It
takes you out to the reefs and gives beautiful views of the marine
animals, colorful corals and even a sea turtle or two.
If you are in to fun-packed, activity-filled days, you won’t be
disappointed at Voyager. Not only do they have a water sports centre
that offers windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and other great
sports, but the resort also provides daily entertainment programs and
family shows to keep you amused.
There is an 18-hole golf course
situated nearby as well as a crocodile farm, nature reserve and Kenya's
top coastal hotel shopping arcade.
